iGaming Player Research

    Get inside your player’s mind

Understand what causes your players to register, deposit and stay, so you can improve your acquisition, activation and retention.

    What player research reveals

Start with the player decision you need to understand

Your CRM is a goldmine of player behaviour. It shows where players move, stall and leave. Our research adds the reason: what they were trying to do, what they considered and what caused them to act when they did.

    Player decision research

    How our research is different

You’re thinking, “I’ve already got survey data and player insights. Why do I need more?”

We interview players in depth for one hour. This gives us time to unpack their answers and capture the real motivations behind their decisions. We only interview people about a change in behaviour, rather than general attitudes to your brand or gambling.

This lets us understand what was going through a player’s head when they actually changed their behaviour. We deconstruct the decision so you can improve your site, offers and player experience, helping more players decide to deposit, play and stay.

    What the survey saidMichelle

    We asked

Why did you choose this site over others?

“Fast payouts, better welcome bonuses, and smoother mobile app.”

HOW YOU MIGHT USE THIS INSIGHT:

    • Speed up payouts
    • Increase the welcome bonus
    • Make the app feel smoother

Three neat attributes. But how fast is fast enough? What makes a bonus "better"? How do your designers make a "smoother mobile app"? Vague language tells you very little about the changes you need to make.

    What the interview revealed
    One hour of probing

    “Smoother mobile app”

    Trust signal
“The app was more modern, more slick. The animations were way smoother and the sound gave me this premium feeling. It makes me feel like it’s more legit. More like a real casino.”

“Smooth” carried meaning about legitimacy and credibility. Product polish was helping her decide whether the casino felt safe enough to trust.

    “Fast payouts”

    Trust confirmed
“It’s not just about the money itself. It’s about the trust. I put my money into this app and I expect to get it out when I want to.”

    What happened after use

Her withdrawal reached her in under 10 minutes.

The evidence we captured was post-use. Speed confirmed trust and control, and helped with retention more than acquisition.

    “Better welcome bonuses”

Michelle mentioned the bonus in the screener, then never returned to it while we mined the decision.

That absence matters. Treating the bonus as a primary driver, and increasing incentive spend because of one survey answer, would be a risky decision without stronger evidence.

    The decision behind the answer

The interview explains what caused her to register, not a list of features.

We can see why Michelle decided to look for a site, what made registration feel like the right next step, and which experiences built enough confidence for her to return and stay.

    1. 01

      Feels left out

Friends are playing, talking about wins and sharing the experience. Michelle cannot join the conversation.

“I was just always sitting there feeling like I was left out.”
    2. 02

      Risk feels manageable

The games look simple enough to try without needing specialist knowledge or a complicated strategy.

“All you have to do is spin and hope for the best.”
    3. 03

      The app looks credible

Modern graphics, smoother animation and sound create a premium feeling that signals legitimacy.

“It makes me feel like it’s more legit. More like a real casino.”
    4. 04

      A small win builds confidence

She deposits $20, wins about $30 and feels she has made a good start.

      “That actually gave me confidence.”
    5. 05

      Withdrawal confirms trust

The money reaches her account in under ten minutes, proving she can get her winnings out easily.

“It didn’t even take up to ten minutes.”

What this changes for an operator

Better evidence gives you better decisions.

The survey supplied three attributes. The interview showed the meaning underneath them, separated a post-use outcome from the decision to register, and exposed one claim that did not survive scrutiny.

    Acquisition

    Make the experience feel legitimate

Test the visual, sound and product-quality signals that make an unfamiliar brand feel credible before a player deposits.

    Payments

Design for control and certainty, not speed alone

Use real player insights to decide what product features you need to build. Design to make your brand the obvious, easy choice.

    Bonuses

    Pause before increasing incentive spend

We all know players like bonuses. But if they're not causing new players to deposit and become loyal, should we focus there first?

A survey gives you an answer. A decision interview gets inside your player's mind and gives you something you can act on.
